These certifications now validate expertise across Fortinet’s integrated Security Fabric, mapping skills directly to four primary technology tracks: Secure Networking, SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), Cloud Security, and Security Operations. This modernization supports expanded learning opportunities, allowing professionals to develop deep expertise across core solution areas, from foundational cybersecurity knowledge (NSE 1 & 2) up through Expert-level mastery (NSE 8 Written and Practical).

The program is structured hierarchically, beginning with Fundamentals (NSE 1 and 2), progressing to Associate (NSE 3) and Professional (NSE 4, which is the foundational FortiOS certification, plus one NSE 5 specialist exam). The next major level is the Solution Specialist, achieved by passing one NSE 6 and one NSE 7 exam, which demonstrates advanced, multi-product expertise within one or more of the four technology tracks. Fortinet’s focus on integrating various solutions—such as endpoint protection (FortiEDR), cloud architecture, and SD-WAN—means that achieving certifications at the Professional and Solution Specialist levels proves a candidate’s ability to implement and manage complex, modern security environments built on the Fortinet Security Fabric.
